What do David Suzuki, Eddie Izzard, Lynda Barry and Lena Dunham have in common? They all have the power to inspire and influence others with their creativity, intelligence and courage.
In the eyes of local artist Esther Parker, those qualities also make them undeniably “cool”. Her intriguing portraits of these ground-breaking individuals (plus 16 other well-known and lesser-known mavericks) will be on display at the Langham Court Theatre gallery from April 23 to May 9, in an exhibition entitled Because They’re Cool.
• The Because They’re Cool exhibition consists of 20 ink portraits of well-known (and lesser-known) people.
• The exhibition runs from April 23 to May 9, 2015 at the Langham Court Theatre gallery and coincides with the theatre’s presentation of the critically acclaimed Tracy Letts play August: Osage County.
• An opening reception, with the artist in attendance, will be held on Sunday, April 26, from 1-3pm. Snacks, light refreshments and a cash bar will be available.
• Viewing hours for the art exhibition are 7:30-10:30pm for theatre ticketholders on performance days and 12-4pm (Monday to Friday) for the general public.
