“Beyond Braille: A New Way of Seeing” Opens at Bowen Island Museum & Archives
Innovative Multi-Sensory Exhibit Invites Visitors to Explore History Through Touch, Sound, and Inclusive Design
The Bowen Island Museum & Archives is proud to announce the opening of Beyond Braille: A New Way of Seeing, a multi-sensory exhibition that reimagines how we access and interpret history. Developed in close collaboration with Camp Bowen and VocalEye Descriptive Arts Society, this landmark exhibit invites visitors to experience the island’s past through tactile exploration, audio storytelling, and inclusive design.
“Beyond Braille” marks a transformative step in the museum’s ongoing commitment to accessibility. From touchable artifacts to braille resources and audio-described media, the exhibit challenges traditional exhibit norms—making history more engaging, immersive, and welcoming for all.
