Using flower parts and petals as a departure point, Bobbie Burgers explores the process of decay, transformation and metamorphosis in her recent abstracted works on canvas and paper. A persistent theme in her work is scale.
Rendered large, she “views her subjects as a landscape seen from afar, where natural elements, time and movement move across the canvas.”
Burgers' first solo show, Waterworks and Pathways, took place at the Ferry Building Gallery in 1995 when she was only 19 years old. Twenty-four years after this sold-out show, we are honoured to present this exhibition in the very same space.
Burgers exhibits nationally and internationally and is represented by Equinox Gallery in Vancouver and Caldwell Snyder Gallery in California.
This exhibition is co-organized by the West Vancouver Art Museum and the Ferry Building Gallery for the Harmony Arts Festival.
