You’ll see Red Deer Art Club members zooming in and zooming out at their upcoming exhibition – even when nobody’s moving. The contributing artists took on the theme of “Scale” for the juried show, with many creating images that zoom in to magnify the tiny or pull back to view the landscape from a grander scale. Still others blended the two, creating unique perspectives with brain-teasing results.
Of course, large versus small isn’t the only concept of scale. Scales measure anything from a sack of sugar to tonal values, giving the artists the opportunity to work in two or three interpretations in a single piece. See how many examples of scale you can find in each work.
The Red Deer Art Club has been active in Red Deer since 1948. They promote and encourage two-dimensional art for adults. Their members number around forty. They welcome any who have the same urge to create art as well as follow their values of encouragement and diversity in art.
