In Candle Smoke With a Long Draw, artists Tiffany Law and Francisco Berlanga present a one-day collaborative exhibition of sculptural shrines and ritual gestures that explore memory, grief, and cultural inheritance. Centred around a large altar and surrounded by corner shrines, mobile sculptures, and a coffin lying in wake, the installation creates a space of reverence—an ephemeral reliquary for both past and present.
The artists draw from objects once charged with personal meaning and introduce new material offerings, crafted in an attempt to echo the emotional gravity of their predecessors. What emerges is a shrine to a shrine: a quiet, unresolved reaching toward understanding through ritual, repetition, and care.
