Coronation is a process of questioning and undoing of family and social conditioning to crown ourselves sovereign in our own lives. The paintings in this show explore my process of art making through a primary medium of acrylic as connection with my evolving truth. This truth arises in the concept known as Inscape, “the unique nature of a person or object as shown in a work of art.” To make art is to make into form the assertion of one’s own identity and is a way of molting was is not true. A birth occurs through making a piece of art. My work embodies the experience of birth at times as messy, “bloody”, disorganizing and governed by code; the code of who I am in relationship to nature, society and myself.
