Hot on the heels of Canadians’ newfound fascination with the art of glassblowing, as evidenced by our fascination with Netflix’s reality series Blown Away, Firebrand Glass Studio is excited to announce its upcoming annual Christmas Open House.
Local art - unique, beautifully crafted, and imbued with an indelible sense of place and local culture - makes the very best gifts! Firebrand Glass Studio invites southern Albertans to experience a working glassblowing studio and to take advantage of this rare opportunity to shop on-site for truly unique holiday gifts. Not only will visitors have a memorable experience, they’ll also be giving gifts or experiences that last a lifetime, while supporting local artists and local culture.
Located in one of Alberta’s most charming small towns, Black Diamond, the studio is home to Julia Reimer and Tyler Rock, award-winning artists who are internationally recognized as two of Canada’s very best creators of contemporary glass art. On November 30th, Julia, Tyler and their team will open their studio doors and present a new, exciting series of work at this popular annual event. Witness exciting glassblowing demonstrations, shop from a myriad of hand blown glass pieces, and take this opportunity to sign up for a hands-on workshop that will have you creating your very own one-of-a-kind art piece.
The Most Beautiful Art Tour in Alberta Showcasing the natural and artistic beauty of southern Alberta, all within a 45 minute drive from Calgary, eight Foothills artists and art organizations on the southern outskirts of Calgary come together to host “The Most Beautiful Art Tour in Alberta”. The beautiful environment and fascinating history of the area has inspired many of the artists whose works the tour features.
From the Millarville area, through Turner Valley to Black Diamond and on to Okotoks, along HWY 22 (The Cowboy Trail) and HWY 2A, four galleries - Leighton Art Centre, Bluerock Gallery, Lineham House Galleries, and Okotoks Art Gallery - and four artists’ studios - Kristoferson Studio, Mady Thiel-Kopstein, Eversfield Ceramics, and Firebrand Glass Studio - periodically arrange to be open the public simultaneously.
November 30th, you are invited to join in and come for a holiday season tour of our galleries and private artist studios located in the stunningly beautiful foothills of southern Alberta! We're making merry with open houses at our artist studios and special events and activities at our galleries... and making available lots of beautiful, locally handmade art and fine craft, perfect for holiday gifting!
This is a self-drive tour. Admission to each venue is free.
