It’s that time of year again! CHROMA, CKGs annual summer group show, opens July 12, inviting audiences to revel in bold colour and creative exploration. This lively exhibition celebrates the diversity of the gallery’s artists, with an emphasis on experimentation and playful deviation. This year’s CHROMA features new work from gallery artists including Karrie Arthurs, Joanne MacDonald, Karin McGinn, Steve Speer, and Carl White.
CHROMA also marks the introduction of three new artists to the gallery’s roster:
Chrissy Nickerson, a mid-career artist from Canmore, Alberta, known for her bold, expressionist oil paintings of North America’s rugged landscapes. Rooted in the plein air tradition, she captures the wildness and spirit of place in large-scale works rich in texture and energy.
Ryan Proulx, a Calgary-based painter whose work blends classical oil techniques with the vibrant aesthetic of 1980s and ’90s music culture. With a background in architecture and stage design, his paintings balance dynamic energy and precise
composition.
Josefina Rodriguez, a Canadian-Argentinian artist based in Calgary whose figurative ceramics and drawings explore gender, power, and the female
experience. Shaped by her upbringing in Latin America, her work reclaims space for pleasure, strength, and rebellion.
We’re thrilled to welcome Chrissy, Ryan, and Josefina to the gallery community. Their work brings fresh perspectives and beautifully complements the bold spirit of CHROMA.”
Admission is free and all are welcome to join the opening reception and enjoy this playful summer showcase.
