CULTURE DAYS 2021 at the AGR
CULTURE DAYS 2021 at the AGR
Culture Days, the month-long national celebration of arts and culture, will take place from September 24 - October 24, 2021.
We will kick off this month of programming with a live-streamed artist talk by artist Aganetha Dyck on Saturday, September 25 from 6:30 - 7:30pm. Dyck has been a part of the AGR's community engaged project, Between Us. This is a long-term creative relationship connecting senior artist Aganetha Dyck with selected artists, beekeepers and honeybees throughout Saskatchewan. She will share her experiences and examples of artwork created in collaboration with honeybees in this pre-recorded artist talk, in discussion with AGR curator Sandee Moore. The talk will be live broadcast and can be viewed online from any internet enabled video device. You may also view a large projection of the broadcast at the Neil Balkwill Civic Arts Centre (attendance limited). Additionally, the talk will be recorded and can be streamed on-demand throughout the duration of Culture Days 2021.
Other Culture Days events include a Honeycomb Flag Workshop on October 2 & 3. Work together to create a honeycomb flag from cast-off clothing to be flown from the Neil Balkwill Centre's flagpole for the duration of Culture Days. Sensing the Distance Between Us: smell, hear, and touch honeybee creations will take place on October 16 & 17. In a series of outdoor, sensory-based activities, children are invited to experience the wonder of honeybees with their own noses, ears and hands. On October 24, there will be a special edition of Still Life Sundays with guest instructor George Glenn. Participants are invited to join us in the unique challenge of drawing Honeybee Altered Compositions.
Please note: the City of Regina has released new policies regarding visiting their facilities, including mandatory masks as of September 4. As a tenant in a City of Regina facility, the AGR will be following these policies as well. If you have any questions regarding these policies, please contact the City of Regina.
