Matilde Nuzzo (Venice, Italy) will join us on Tuesday, September 9, 2025 at 7pm at Open Space to talk about her experiences as a gallery manager and animateur for Ydessa Hendeles: Grand Hotel, which was recently presented in Venice. She will also discuss her work with neuro-diverse artists including Richard Boulet, who will be presenting work at Open Space in November 2025, curated by Wayne Baerwaldt.
As an interpreter between languages and art, I actively seek connections between cultures and disciplines. Drawing on my background in sinology, I am particularly fascinated by the ways in which art transcends linguistic barriers. My curatorial practice focuses on contemporary art and marginalized communities, with a strong emphasis on creating accessible and inclusive projects that foster sincere dialogues between people and foster a deeper understanding of diverse cultures. I believe in the power of multidisciplinarity and have been working with professionals in the medical and social field. - Matilde Nuzzo
Matilde is also interested in conducting studio visits with local artists during her visit to Victoria. If you live locally and are interested in a potential studio visit, please get in touch with us at director@openspace.ca
