David Alexander’s bold interpretations of North American landscape feature vibrant colour and brushwork. His landscape paintings portray a unique cropping of pictorial space, that propels the viewer into the heart of the wilderness, amid craggy mountain cliffs, or above the rippled surface of a lake. Based on drawings, photos, and journal entries collected during backcountry expeditions, these works present a direct reflection of human experience with the land.
David T. Alexander studied at the Vancouver Art School and Langara Art Department, graduating with a BFA from Notre Dame University in 1978. In 1980, he moved to Saskatoon to obtain his MFA while researching in New York, London, and Paris. He has exhibited extensively since that time, and achieved a vast resume of public shows, educational endeavours, and critical recognition.
