Opening Celebration: Saturday, March 8, 2-4pm
Disorderly Conduct brings together the work of 10 women artists to celebrate International Women’s Day 2025 Gabriola Art and Heritage Centre.
This is an exhibition of artwork by a group of female artists from Gabriola and beyond to foster awareness of the many longstanding and still burning issues that concern women in the early 21st century. Through a variety of materials, techniques and mediums the artists address issues that continue to challenge women to have full safe and creative lives.
A number of artists address concerns around women’s bodies, through collage, sculpture, assemblage and video, others celebrate the support of strong women in their lives, still others express their concern for women in the long journey towards equality, equity and personal security. There is humour and wit along the way as we celebrate the strength needed to navigate the often rough terrain of the lives of women.
