Winchester Galleries is pleased to announce the Blossoming exhibition at the onset of spring to celebrate nature’s revival by Dorothy Knowles’ alluring depictions of blooming gardens. This stunning collection of floral representations brings the novelty of spring’s atmosphere indoors. Opening windows to the charm of the natural revitalization of the earth take the viewer to the absolute fascination of living in nature.
Dorothy Knowles was born on April 7, 1927, on a farm near Unity, Saskatchewan. Early on as a child, she was interested in hoeing, planting, and watering the flowers on the family’s land. She is well-known for her landscape paintings and has had various important exhibitions across Canada and the United States. Knowles has mastered a variety of media including acrylic, oil, and watercolour. Knowles works in a range of scales from expansive Canadian landscapes to small astonishingly detailed watercolours. The smaller works are as impressive and engaging as the large ones.

The health and safety of our visitors and employees are always a top priority, and with the current concerns about the coronavirus (COVID-19), we want to provide you with details on the precautionary measures we are taking to continue to operate safely and help mitigate the spread of the virus in the communities we serve.
- We highly recommend visitors and staff who are having any symptoms to stay home and to report symptoms, which include fever, coughing and difficulty breathing, to their health care provider.
- In addition to the enhanced cleaning and disinfection of the gallery, our staff are also disinfecting high-touch areas throughout the day such as doorknobs, door handles, and railings.
- Limiting gallery hours and providing more online access to our collections, and online exhibitions.
During these challenging times please look out for one another and while we need to keep our social distance inquire with any elderly neighbours if they require groceries or any other help.
Concerning the current situation over COVID-19, Dialogues of a solitary voice exhibition will be postponed until further notice.
