Drawing North: Contemporary Drawings from Kinngait
August 8 - 29
This vibrant collection of 32 new pencil crayon and ink drawings by artists from Kinngait (Cape Dorset) offers a compelling glimpse into the ever-evolving world of contemporary Inuit art. At the heart of the exhibition are thirteen captivating works by acclaimed artist Ningiukulu Teevee, whose colourful compositions reflect her signature blend of Inuit storytelling, natural observation, and playful invention.
The exhibition also features drawings by a dynamic group of fellow Kinngait artists, including Padloo Samayualie, known for her architectural precision and fine detailing; Shuvinai Ashoona, whose richly imaginative worlds continue to defy boundaries; Quvianaqtuk Pudlat, celebrated for his bold depictions of Arctic wildlife; as well as Napachie Toonoo, Saimaiyu Akesuk, and Johnny Pootoogook, each contributing their unique visual voices to the collection.
