Up Close & Personal with Duncan Regehr, RCA: ‘At The Blinder’s Wall’

This exhibition, titled “At Blinders Wall”, will incorporate Duncan’s art from different series’ of his works – unexpectedly curated and presented through a rare dramatic reflection: A live reading of his internationally acclaimed prose and poetry right from the cosy chair at Petley Jones Gallery. 

To the question of what happened at Blinder’s Wall, Duncan quietly pondered. It was not my intent to create the Blinders Wall paintings as political statement, but given our current obsession with walls, they could easily be construed as such, possibly pertaining to Brexit, Trump’s  border wall or to our prevailing zeitgeist – the wall of uncertainty… All walls ultimately fail, he exclaimed. In the meantime we are left to look for clues in the time and space created between the paintings.   

Duncan is a prolific, awarded, multi-media artist of international prominence in the visual, literary and performing arts. Numerous art exhibitions in Canada, the USA, and Europe have attracted the attention of museums, critics and the public. His paintings, sculpture & written works are found in important collections worldwide including the Smithsonian Institute (USA), The Jilin Collection (China), The Kunsthallen (Copenhagen), Focus on the Masters Archives for the Getty Museum (USA) and the Syllavethy Collection of Scotland (UK). Duncan Regehr has received an Honorary Doctorate of Fine Arts from University of Victoria.
