Opening Reception Thursday, July 4, 6:00- 9:00pm
Almost everything in Nigeria holds a pool of history, as a result my work is often interwoven with narratives and/or historical meanings. Most inspiration for my work comes from my observations and perspectives on Nigeria’s social-cultural, economic and political landscape. I love to research the everyday life of people living in rural and urban areas in Nigeria to create art with deep cultural meaning. Whilst it is true that I am enthralled by the concept of cultural diversity in our world today, I am always seeking innovative ways to engage my canvas directly so as to articulate my thoughts to my canvas and then to my audience. I believe this is the best way of conferring pieces of pictures that subsists beyond the realm of canvas in the mind of my audience. - Dunni George
