The Western Canada landscape is imbued with diverse significance and meaning, while evoking powerful emotions and sensations. As Michel de Certeau maintains “space is a practiced place”. The meaning, yet, is produced through the frequent interaction of subjects with places. The works in this exhibition are inviting us to reflect upon the connection between the earth and the human, how the land influences people, and how people, in turn, influence the land. The patterns of symbiotic connections often show themselves in the traces people leave behind in their living spaces, making landscape always meaningful and captivating for artists and viewers.
