Fibre in its nature is very tactile and ruminating. Almost everyone remembers someone or knows one who they’ve had a deeper connection to through a fibre art. Remembering a prairie rainstorm and how it felt to the viewer, feeling the gentle question in each piece and interpreting their own emotions. Erin Davis’ exhibition of fibre arts allows viewers to feel that gentle connection.
Erin is inspired by the rich tapestries of Albertas landscapes, wildlife and people. Her unique approach of incorporating local fibres into her pieces showcases the essence and vitality of the fibre community in each piece she creates.
Erins artistic journey began with a passion for exploring the raw materials that surrounded her. Through continuous experimentation she honed her own unique techniques, mastering the art of transforming fibres into unconventional, thought provoking works of art. The resulting artwork blends texture, colour and form to creating a visual feast for the senses.
Fibre in its nature is very tactile and ruminating. Almost everyone remembers someone or knows one who they’ve had a deeper connection to through a fibre art. By using such an emotional medium Erin can connect with her art viewers on a level that allows them to pause and ruminate. Allowing the viewer to feel their way through the pieces, and experience them how they need to.
