Opening Reception: Saturday, November 4, 2017 from 2 – 4 pm (FREE)
The ACT Gallery will open its annual Ensemble show with a free reception from 2 – 4 pm. The celebration, open to the public, will include refreshments, live music from Allan MacKinnon, and what promises to be the most inclusive and eclectic exhibition of the season.
Of the 31 artists included in this year’s juried show, about half are from the Maple Ridge/Pitt Meadows area. It is always great to see new work from the artists in our midst, but exciting, as well, to be able welcome artists from Port Moody, Coquitlam, Surrey and Vancouver. Many of these artists are new to the gallery, so it’s a great opportunity to show off the exceptional gallery space located within The ACT.
One of the participating artists, Ann Blackwell, is well known to many in the area, as her unusually expressive artworks have appeared in many shows over the years. This year, a fresh collection of handmade art books will be available to collectors and new fans alike. Other local artists include Jean Abbot, Wayne Bissky, Liz Boulton, Fred Cameron, Jane Duford-Johnston, Isabel Gibson, Cindy Johnston, Laura Koch, Heidi Lambert, Velma Martin, Connie-Jean Moore, Rodrigo Munoz, Norma Jean Phillips, Tammy Routley, Leanne Sevcov, Kerrie Stafford and Sarah Still. Other participants, such as Simone Sullivan, are based in Coquitlam but are members of Maple Ridge’s local art group, the Garibaldi Art Club.
In addition, the Gallery Shop will have some new treasures in store, including a collection of art rugs from the Gone Hooking Group, and a collection of irresistible felted ornaments by the Fair Trade organization, Craftspring.
