Eric Louie is a Vancouver based painter whose sculptural, organic abstracts allude to landscape, still life and even portraiture. His signature metallic, shimmering forms, achieved via many thin layers of luminescent glazes, are central to the virtual worlds he creates. Eric Louie’s new saturated canvases delves into existential scenarios through an exploration of virtual spaces of the mind.
Vancouver based Eric Louie was born in Boston, Massachusetts, USA. He began taking art classes at the Winnipeg Art Gallery at the age of nine and received his B.F.A. from the Alberta College of Art + Design in 2002. He was the recipient of the Jason Laing scholarship while a student and has been in over 40 exhibitions since graduation. Eric Louie’s work is collected by many private and corporate collections including Encana Energy, CIBC, NBC Studios, Paramount and MGM Pictures as well as the City of Calgary.
