A jamais

Initiated by BRAVO (Bureau des regroupements des artistes visuels de l’Ontario), in 1987 under the name Les accents d’inquiétantes étrangetés by Marc Charbonneau, the curator Salomé Viguier takes up the project of an exhibition highlighting the richness and diversity of Franco-Ontarian visual artists. Through the work of six emerging artists, FRAGILE continues to question the Francophone identity in a minority context and explores the relationship between the artist’s socio-demographic characteristics and their work.

FRAGILE invites dialogue with the current works of artists who transcend this notion of identity by emancipating the discourse beyond a simple categorization. FRAGILE rejects the tension between the past and the present, heritage and current realities, the francophone culture and today’s Canadian society: that of diversity and multiple identities.
