Gabriela García-Luna is a contemporary photography-based artists, born in Mexico City and living in Canada.
Her first encounter with photography was during her studies of Graphic Arts and Communication in Mexico City. She came to personally meet artists such as Manuel Alvarez Bravo and Rafael Doniz who inspired her towards a deeper interest in photography.
Since 1999 García-Luna has participated in solo and group exhibitions of photographic, photo-based and installation art work. Selected projects include Pensive Space, Moose Jaw Museum and Art Galley, Moose Jaw, SK (2014); Gathered Light, Slate Fine Art Gallery, Regina, SK (2013); New Territories/Nuevos Territorios at the Illingworth Kerr Gallery, Calgary, AB (2012); MIND THE GAP!,Dunlop Art Gallery, Regina, SK, and The Art Gallery of Ottawa, Ottawa, ON (2010-11, toured); Speak/Memory, Moose Jaw Museum and Art Gallery, Moose Jaw, SK, (2009); Vulnerables, Galería Arte Alterno, Oaxaca, Mexico (2004); Summa, Museo del Carmen México (2003-04, toured).
