Throughout history the human figure as a subject, has played an important role in art from early cave paintings, through the many centuries and art periods including the Greek Classical period, the Renaissance, Impressionism, Expressionism and Modernism. Although the role of the figure in art has changed over the centuries, artists continue to investigate the subject, and express and explore the human condition.
This exhibition includes work by many important Canadian artists form the mid 19th century to contemporary artists of today including: Horatio Walker RCA, AWCS, NAD, RI, SAA (1858 – 1938), Otto Jacobi RCA OSA, SCA (1812-1901), Frank H.
