Art Talks Presents ‘Hacking Success an Artist’s Way
You’ve got the training and bought all the supplies, but how do you actually live as an artist? Join Art Vancouver for Art Talks’ Hacking Success an Artist’s Way, a series of presentations by artists for artists.
Our speakers each present how they make it work as professional artists. Learn from their careers, their successes and failures, as they provide insight into the life of the artist. Each of our speakers will discuss a range of topics, including how to ‘hack’ the business of art, the legal side of the art industry and general bookkeeping.
We know an artist’s job is to create, but they must also be entrepreneurs. Join us as our speakers inspire and engage the audience, providing insight and stories from their own lives about how to ‘hack’ success.

Quotes:
Jan Kasparec, artist and speaker
On ‘hacking’ success:
“We are all, by definition, artists. If you can ignite this light in you, and actually make money with it, that’s the best. You can become the successful person you want to be. Then, you’re not working. You’re playing.”
On Art Vancouver:
“Art Vancouver is doing a great job at bringing art in Vancouver to the world stage. I think it’s important and I appreciate it so much.”
Marleen Vermeulen, artist and speaker
On success:
“Success doesn’t come by itself. You have to show up for it. You have to believe it to make it happen. To put whatever you would like to see unfold in your life, into focus. Give it the time and energy it deserves. This means it cannot come as a sidetrack- with a reasoning that would take the belief in success away. How can you ever reach anything in which you don’t believe in yourself, especially as an artist!”
On Art Vancouver:
“Art Vancouver gives upcoming artists a possibility to connect to the established art market on the West Coast and beyond. It provides a networking opportunity for knowledge to be shared.”
