This exhibition premieres a new work by Hannah Rickards, an interdisciplinary artist from London, UK, now based in Vancouver. The video installation engages different forms of attention while drifting back and forth between looking and listening. Decidedly non-linear, the intricate choreography of sound and moving image form rhythmic patterns of overlapping frames of reference. The performers interact with photographic materials from early scientific documents of celestial phenomena. Influenced by composers like John Cage as her title suggests, Rickards’ work is a meditation on the experience of temporality. A part of the exhibition is a display of various artefacts and documents that reveal the visual effects of weather and time, extending the artist’s interest in earth science.  Hannah Rickards has exhibited widely, and was awarded the 2018 Nigel Greenwood Art Prize and the coveted Max Mara Art Prize for Women. Her recent artist residency at Fogo Island in Newfoundland resulted in an installation and the catalogue Grey light. Left and right back, high up, two small windows.
