In "Inside/Out," Hope Forstenzer explores our concept of our selves versus our physical bodies, and how they are often at odds, and how we see our moods, beliefs, and our likes and dislikes as “us,” when we are far more complex than we realize.
Using multiple methods of working with glass as a malleable material — blown glass pieces combined with methods use for stained glass, images exposed directly onto glass and/or sandblasted into it — this exhibition asks us to look closer at the baggage we carry, and at the stories we tell ourselves about who we are.
We are all transparent. We are all opaque. We are all not sure of who we are, and when we see that we’re not alone in that, we can learn more about how we’re human.
