Winchester Galleries is delighted to announce the upcoming exhibition A Watercolour Odyssey by watercolour artist, Javid Tabatabaei. Wandering from Eastern China to Europe, Africa, and North America’s West Coast, Tabatabaei not only tells the story of cultures but also, takes the viewer on an odyssey of self-discovery. Dream-like depictions of cityscapes form a mystical relationship with nature and culture. This exhibition celebrates the multicultural aspects of our community and embraces the cultural differences through capturing the ephemeral moments of beauty in the city environment.
Javid Tabatabaie was born in Tehran, Iran. After studying graphic design, he pursued his career as an artist for more than twenty years. His impressionist depictions of landscapes and cityscapes form through the elements of light and shadow. Focusing on the human figure and behaviour in the city environments, Tabatabaei represents emotions and culture. Tabatabaei had solo and group exhibitions all around the world such as China, Turkey, Italy, and Pakistan. Tabatabaei tutors watercolour through in-person and online workshops. He was a jury in the International Watercolour Painting Competition in Izmir, Turkey, 2012. Tabatabaei is also the winner of many awards and competitions. After moving to Vancouver, Canada, Tabatabaei follows his passion by illustrating British Columbia’s landscapes and cityscapes.
