JEAN-PAUL JÉRÔME: THEME AND VARIATIONS
Born in Montreal, Quebec, Jean-Paul Jerome studied with Stanley Cosgrove at l’Ecole des Beaux – Arts, Montreal (1945-52); and in France, Italy, Switzerland and Austria (1956-58). His early work was influenced by Mondrian, Kandinsky and the Cubists. Working in oil, acrylic, charcoal and pastel, he painted images of heads, still life and non-representational works. He was a member of Les Plasticiens and signed their manifesto in 1955. He taught at l’Ecole des Beaux-Arts, Montreal (1958).
