Arts Commons Broadcast Lab (formerly Gallery of Alberta Media Arts) brings three new short films to Arts Commons Walking to Save On, Lucidity, and Rainbow Fisher by media artists Jean-Pierre Marchant, Michael Janke, and Susan Clarahan.
Three very unique visual stories chronicling journeys through time, dreams, and personal identity come to the Broadcast Lab monitors in Arts Commons. Jean-Pierre Marchant’s Walking to Save On peers into the forgotten town seemingly frozen in time since the 1980s.
Michael Janke’s Lucidity is inspired by Edgar Allan Poe’s A Dream Within a Dream and explores the interconnectedness of dreams, fate, and reality within the human psyche.
Susan Clarahan’s Rainbow Fisher combines fiction and documentary together with rich visuals of powerful landscapes and eclectic costuming. Her work attempts to destabilize the average point of view as a contribution to a broader perspective of the feminine image.
