In this exhibition of exquisitely and painstakingly created collages and a stop-motion animation, senior Calgary artist Jennifer Wanner upends traditional scientific botanical art by splicing images of endangered Canadian plant species together to create new hybrid plants - one to represent each province and territory in Canada. Wanner's work prompts us to consider both the looming eradication of species in nature and the implications of genetic engineering, suggesting that both are the result of the western fascination with mastery over nature.
