Paul Kuhn Gallery is pleased to present an exhibition of paintings by Calgary artist, Jesse Stilwell. This is the artists’ inaugural exhibit with the gallery. Stilwell’s meticulously prepared and finely crafted paintings fall into the genre of Op Art, in so far as, he investigates the optical and emotional possibilities of colours and shapes. The artist uses elementary structures and formulas to create visual experiences that engage the viewer, often triggering sensations of vibration and movement. In Stilwell’s chromatic paintings, colour is an active component, creating an event rather than an appearance.

The artist will attend the opening.
