An exploration in wood.
Tucked into the northern boreal forest of Alberta, KG+e are the woodworking family of Kevin Gilbert + Erin Schwab that specialize in handcrafted wooden objects that play somewhere between form and function but always with an attention to detail.
"A little about the work. Spoons and cutting board handles are hand carved and we try to retain some of the tool marks where we can. We primarily work in walnut, cherry, maple and sapele and focus on minimal waste in our woodwork so availability of some of the hand carved items might reflect the size of wood we have available at that time.
Being creatively flexible is important to us. As a result the work is one of a kind and some pieces can not be replicated. Pieces that we do make in a series are the salt/spice cellars, rolling pins and boxes." KG+e
