Kirsty Templeton Davidge, "Gauze Skirt," 2018
oil on canvas, 64" x 42"
Join us Thursday September 6th from 7 - 9 pm for the opening reception of Kirsty Templeton Davidge's new solo exhibition 'Common Threads'. Artist in attendance.
Rooted in the enduring genre of figurative painting, Templeton Davidge explores ideas of observing, looking and perception. Basic concepts like pictorial representation, negative space and the absence or presence of form are central tenants of her work. Noticing details - hands, clothing, body language - reveals a potent blend of tension and beauty while maintaining an underlying psychological charge that carries an emotional weight.
Templeton Davidge received her Bachelor of Fine Arts with Distinction from the University of Alberta in 2015 and was awarded numerous scholarships as well as nominations for both painting and sculpture awards. She was awarded ‘Best of Show’ Prize in the 12th Annual Rites of Passage exhibition of Emerging Artists in Cincinnati. This is the third show for Kirsty Templeton Davidge at Peter Robertson Gallery.
