Kritsana Naowakhun Artist Statement
I discovered my art form based on my surroundings and occurrences in life such as landscapes, cultures, society, and the story of where I came from. As a Buddhist I believe in the incredible power and beauty of nature, the cycle of life and death that is never ending. In this series I am talking about the truth of life and death and how our life belongs to the nature. At the end of our time the truth of life is that nothing lasts forever. I believe only what we carry on past our death is the purity of our soul and our good memories. This series incorporates my Canadian experience with animals and symbols of the north, my Asian heritage and aesthetic with ink lines, and the use of gold pigment, and the ethos of my Buddhist beliefs.
