To locate is to identify a place, but always in reference to something else. Both artists explore the local environment through personal interaction and professional experiences.
Peter’s work comes from the dual lens of film making and print practice. As an art director and production designer, Peter's experience of place is as a tool, a vehicle for telling other people’s stories. As a print maker, he sees place as the story itself. His work emerges from the intersection of these two often contradictory experiences.
Edward selected each location from his artist residency time of 2021 to 2023. In each residency he studied and collected indigenous plants of the region, with the intention to extract ink for printmaking experiments. The work here is result of his tests in preparation for the exhibition at Museum of Vancouver 2022, the Traverse Biennial 2023 in Val-David, Quebec, and the SUHO Paper Memorial Museum 2024 in Taipei, Taiwan.
