The Exhibition Opening

The exhibition opened with a full house - shoulder to shoulder with wine glasses perched in one hand and appies in the other. The exhibition, which actually spanned two full galleries across the street from each other featured paintings from 12 artists in a wide array of subject matter, style and technique. Many of the artists attended and spent the evening answering questions about their paintings and art subjects in general. In addition, two chairs were set up to allow for eye contact sessions by anyone who cared to engage. Overall the well attended event was a huge success for Gracie Unopla, the Gallery Director who spent months planning and executing the event.

"This exhibition is to presented as a stark contrast and antidote to all the negativity that seems to be prevalent in the world. Many artists and patrons feel the arts community is an important force for repelling hate and inviting love", stated Elizabeth Evans. Evans, who was named Artist of the Year by Nature Trust of BC in 2022 contributed 16 works that each depicted images of various aspects of Love.

Other artists in the show included Autumn Skye, Clair Folstad, Joelly Cright, Peter R. Nichols, Stewart Jacobs, Tyler Gentry, Zaan Classens, Sherrie Pregitzer, Brian Romer, Shain Jackson and Lorrie Morris.

It was difficult to spend time on any one work due to the crowd of admirers so I'll be going back for a more focused viewing later this week. The exhibition continues until Feb. 19th.
