Artist statement
A side-view mirror warning reminds us that objects are closer than they appear. Similarly, things we think are distant memories still exist in the present and play a role in our current lives.
This collection of work encapsulates this concept consisting of found objects sourced from travels around the globe with the man I love, mementos from childhood and ephemera which invoke a myriad of emotions. Each self portrait captures memories from my life, creating a narrative around the people who have impacted my journey in ways that continue to surprise me and foster personal evolution.
