We are opening the season and Gallery Walk with a large exhibition of new paintings by Lynn Malin, "Streamlight." The show is a combination of her traditional landscape paintings and her light-filled, aerials on Lexan.
….My latest series, called Earth Études, consists of 30, 48 x 48 inch works done from an aerial perspective. I see them as maps of land use. Paint and mixed media are intertwined and layered. The surface is further enhanced by incorporating patterns in the frottage of found grid materials such as chain link fences, chicken wire, steel grates and grids. This mimics human-made hieroglyphics and grids imposed on nature’s chaos. - Lynn Malin
In conjunction with the exhibition, we are pleased to announce that Lynn Malin has been awarded two important commissions: "Waterscape," completed and installed at the Emerald Hills Leisure Centre and a premiere installation for the mezzanine causeway of the Kelly Ramsay Tower.
As a senior artist from Edmonton, Alberta and true professional, Lynn Malin is deserving and capable of realizing major installations in the region. The staff at Scott Gallery and I, congratulate Lynn Malin for her achievements.
Please join us on Saturday, September 24 from 1 - 4 pm for the opening of "Streamlight."
