Painter Mark Neufeld integrates assemblage, performance, and curatorial strategies in his work to de-stabilize idealized colonialist notions of “the west” and hyper-masculine prescriptives of male gender identity. This is Neufeld’s first solo show in his new hometown of Winnipeg and it builds upon his exhibition Performance with Two Sculptures, presented in 2013 at the Southern Alberta Art Gallery.
