Michael Corner has always had a discriminating interest in the genre of portrait painting. Not only has he studied the human form, but he has also been intrigued with animal representations. His painting style could be compared to that of the renaissance period. The exploration through paint describes the natural appearance of his subject. Taking it further, Michael incorporates in his compositions a reference to a contemporary context, which adds to the dialogue between the painting and the viewer.
