Even as a child, Monica loved animals and nature and reading about distant lands. This love only strengthened with time as she met people from all walks of life – people who inspired her to travel with her camera at the ready. While her subjects are many and varied, the one constant is the beauty of the world around us, filled with wonders. It is this connection to the world at large that is the inspiration for Monica Reekie’s: Effecting A Connection, a solo photographic exhibition at Coast Collective Gallery.
It is Monica’s belief that everyone has an impact on someone or something and, rather like the ripples in a pond when a pebble is dropped in, these connections move ever outward. Monica is donating partial proceeds from sales during this exhibition to BCSPCA WildArc, the Sheldrick Wildlife Trust, and the Lewa Wildlife Conservancy.
