4 Photographers working in different techniques from film photography to digital photography, dark room developing to digital printing.
Jon Goodman and Craig Richards both photograph with film and practice a dark room process in developing their work: Craig - Silver Gelatin and Jon - Carbon, each creating extraordinary results in B/W photography. Craig captures remarkable detail while Jon's process of carbon printing encapsulates the light and expansiveness of the places he visits backcountry skiing. Craig has worked in film and dark room photography for more than 40 years, working in the photography archives at the Whyte Museum in Banff for most of his career. He now makes his home and studio in Mill Bay, Vancouver Island. Jon Goodman hails from eastern United States, and has studied different photography processes, such as carbon printing and photo gravure in Switzerland. A good portion of Jon's subject matter comes from his yearly backcountry ski trips to the Canadian Rockies.
Kate Mountford and Derek Bisbing both are exceptional digital photographers, focusing on the painterly and compositional aspects of this medium. Kate's work at closer inspection are recognizable mountain landscapes, but she transforms them creating an obscure abstracted perspective. Derek enjoys shooting the atmosphere in the mountains, his work appears minimal and with printing on a surfaced rice paper he has added a sublime textural nature to the work.
