Meeting with Unexpected Delight
August 1, 2025 - October 5, 2025
Two Rivers Gallery is thrilled to present Meeting with Unexpected Delight, a solo exhibition by ceramic artist Ying-Yueh Chuang. Born in Taiwan and based in Canada, Chuang’s practice embodies a hybrid cultural identity, merging Eastern and Western aesthetics. This duality is central to her work, which explores the poetics of form and multiplicity through a balance of structural harmony and imaginative play.
Known for her fantastical, hybrid forms, Chuang transforms the familiar into the unexpected. Drawing inspiration from organic life, her sculptures blur the boundaries between nature and imagination. Her intuitive and tactile process is grounded in close observation and playful transformation. Rather than replicating specific specimens, she distills and reconfigures their elements to create expressive, unfamiliar forms. Her intricately composed installations often feature clusters of repeated components, echoing the rhythms, structures, and systems found in living organisms—inviting viewers into an immersive world where organic form meets imagination.
OPENING RECEPTION AND WORKSHOP
Join us at Two Rivers Gallery on Thursday, July 31 at 7:30 PM for the opening reception of our latest exhibition. Enjoy an artist talk, light refreshments, and the chance to connect through art and conversation.
Two Rivers Gallery is offering a workshop led by the artist on Friday, August 1, from 6:00 to 9:00 PM. This workshop introduces participants to the pinch pot method, one of the oldest and simplest hand-building techniques in ceramics. It offers a tactile way to explore the flexibility of clay while developing foundational skills. Ideal for beginners, the session encourages creativity through direct engagement with the material.
