Remai Modern opened a new presentation of Picasso linocuts from its extensive collection with an exhibition titled Pablo Picasso: Process and Poetry. The exhibition runs to March 3, 2019.
“Thanks to the depth and variety of works in our collection of Picasso linocuts, Remai Modern continues to be able to show these pieces in exciting new ways,” said Gregory Burke, Remai Modern’s Executive Director & CEO. “This is the most significant display of Picasso works since our opening exhibition Field Guide, and offers viewers a new range of works that are playful, buoyant and offer insight into a legendary artist’s practice.”
Process and Poetry, curated by Sandra Fraser, Curator (Collections) takes on the theme of the Bacchanalia, ancient Roman festivals celebrating Bacchus, the god of wine. Living in the south of France inspired Picasso to revisit classical poetry and themes, resulting in a body of work depicting a poetic revelry of musicians and dancers.
