The Nikkei National Museum & Cultural Centre is thrilled to announce its annual Tanabata Market, a festive celebration of the Japanese Star Festival, on Sunday, July 6, 2025, from 11 am to 4 pm. This year's market holds special significance as it marks the 25th anniversary of the Nikkei National Museum & Cultural Centre, and admission is free for all.
Visitors can explore a Craft Market & Flea Market, offering everything from unique handmade goods to pre-loved treasures. Green thumbs won't want to miss the Plant Sales, featuring a variety of indoor and outdoor plants.
Enjoy Japanese street food, such as Takoyaki and Katsu-sando, packaged foods to enjoy at home from eF & Be Bakehouse, Midori Foods and more. There will even be the shaved ice snack.
The Kids Corner will keep younger attendees entertained with special Tanabata-themed activities. All ages are invited to participate in the cherished tradition of writing wishes and hanging them on bamboo branches. Creative spirits can enjoy paper crafts, and a fun ring toss game offers a chance to win tickets to the exciting Nikkei Matsuri (Aug 30 & 31)! Come in your yukata and capture beautiful memories with our Tanabata decorations.
The Tanabata Market will also feature short stage performances by Rakuichi and Hitotose, adding a cultural flair to the festivities. Guests can even learn and practice bon-odori, a traditional Japanese folk dance, and you might spot a ninja in action!
