Op Art was an international art movement that emerged in the 1960s. Actively embraced by a dynamic group of Vancouver artists, this new form of art celebrated instability, transformation and movement—caused by both optical phenomena within a composition and by the physical movement of the viewer in front of the artworks.
Presented in conversation with the exhibition Victor Vasarely, Op Art in Vancouver features artists Joan Balzar, Brian Fisher, Michael Morris, Bodo Pfeifer, Gordon Smith and Takao Tanabe.
