Opening Reception: Saturday, January 25 from 11am to 1pm
Salmon Arm Art Gallery is pleased to present Overflow, an exhibition of four mini-exhibitions curated by seven grade 10 art students from Salmon Arm Secondary School Jackson campus. I Am Not Scared of Fear is about fears and phobias, The Weight of Absence focusses on grief and loss, The Purple Path explores the colour purple and all its cultural meanings, and How Art Resonates with Emotions shares ways that art can help people express themselves beyond words. Each exhibition features a wide variety of mediums and addresses important issues faced by young people today.
The seven Art 10 students have been studying under Art Gallery Curator Tracey Kutschker for the past five months to learn ways to engage artists in their community, explore specific themes, design exhibition space, and market their shows. The Art Gallery is divided into four distinct areas so that each of the curators' themes can shine.
