Canmore's celebrated artist Pascale Ouellet has created a new series of stunning large-scale paintings reflecting our path as an environmentally concerned community in the centre of one of the most sought after tourist destinations worldwide.

Consider the most cliché images of tourist-rich places, where all is bright and sunny, and nothing is more or less outstanding. Find that same image in ‘negative’ form, and all that is left behind is the essence of what makes that place beautiful....pristine....treasured.

PAST/FUTURES is a poignant reminder to reflect on personal values in our relationship with nature……how do we celebrate iconic and pristine places without destroying them? How do we distill and celebrate the core beauty in our natural environment while still recognizing constant and shocking changes that threaten it’s very existence?

How do we stop loving these places to death?

"Past/Futures" opens on June 7, 2025 2-7pm with an artist talk at 3pm.

There will be a concurrent opening of Peter Tertzakian's "Persistence, Obsolescence and Renewal: A Visual Inquiry into the Lifecycle of Energy Infrastructure" in the Studio Energy Gallery (see listing)
