The work reflects the forest edge which presents alluring portals into seen and unseen passageways of ordered chaos and tangled messes of light and form. Colours blur in lost edges. Continual motion is caught in bits and blobs, strokes and smears, of paint. The act of painting here transforms experiencing the outside world to experiencing one’s inside world. Glimpses; by the Forest Edge invites you into a conversation that is both personal and universal as you enter into an experience of the exuberant beauty to be found in Manitoba Forests.
Patricia Eschuk is a Manitoba artist whose work has been inspired by the natural world for many years. Painting and drawing en plein air throughout all the seasons, she has explored a range of local environments including: sunflower fields; prairie meadows; beaches and forests around Gimli MB and Riding Mountain National Park.
She has studied with various artists in the community including the MAWA mentorship program, and recently completed a Fine Arts Degree at the University of Manitoba. Prior to pursuing a professional artistic practice she worked and taught as a physical therapist and holistic energy healing practitioner. Her extensive understanding of the human body and its energy consciousness system influences her art work through awareness of her own emotional and physical body in her artistic practice.
