Newzones is pleased to announce the return of the annual group exhibition, Perception.
Perception is an exciting presentation of Newzones’ artists who work primarily as photographers, as well as those who incorporate photographic elements in their practice. Artworks in this exhibit are created in many fashions, including the exploration of photographic manipulations within the dark room, incorporating found materials and paper filters to achieve a specific effect, and digital means to create and alter the images, resulting in a different effect altogether. This year’s exhibit will also analyze the use of photo-transfer, cyanotype and collage. With all of these varying methods, it’s up to the viewer to determine how the photographs are created and, in some cases, where the photographic elements are!
The exhibition features work from Dianne Bos (Calgary), Annie Briard (Vancouver), Cathy Daley (1955-2022, Toronto), John Folsom (Atlanta, GA), James Holroyd (Calgary), Joshua Jensen-Nagle (Toronto), Virginia Mak (Toronto), Stuart McCall (Vancouver), Colleen Philippi (Calgary), Janna Robins-Walters (Toronto) and Samantha Walrod (Edmonton).
